There really isn't a set "too old."

It's whenever the mom or child decide to stop. Period.

*OK, I mean, not like through puberty. I think that it's fine through toddler and early childhood.

      Personally, I'd revise your comment to say mom AND child decide to stop.

      While I was pregnant with Hayden, I tried everything I could to wean Audrey and she just wouldn't have it. I nursed her through my entire pregnancy, and about 4 months after the baby was born, she just decided she was done.
