He won't eat....

My son is 17 months old today and has NEVER had a piece of real people food!

He has zero interest in food. He will eat homemade baby food and regular baby food but to give him anything thicker he gags and will throw up non stop.

He drinks milk and water and is growing just fine, the doctor doesn't seem to be too worried but I just find it a little odd.

If we are eating dinner and he is at the table be doesn't even look at the food and if we put it on his tray he just throws it off.

Anyone have any advice?

As long as your doctor said he is growing fine then there is no concern. Some kids just aren't ready and there is no need to push them.

My third child was like this, had no interest in food of any kind for a very long time. Our doctor said she was growing fine and he wasn't concerned. She is now my biggest child who eats the most.

It is important to not make food a battle or a forced thing. Let him dictate when he is going to eat. Keep offering food and at some point he will eat it. Playing with food is great for sensory development.

The doctor said he's growing just fine and is right where he is suppose to be. He eats 3-5 cups of baby food a day plus his milk and water.

Sounds great, Just offer real food and let food be for play. He will come around.

He plays with food all the time, everytime we have dinner we put some on his tray.

We have all those for our daughter too and he doesn't want anything to do with them except throw them on the floor.

I figure he will one day, he is a male. haha. And if he is anything like his father he will be a foodie.

No, we never really got into it with her, we just explained how he gags and has no interest in food at all.
