Vaginal Birth After a C-Section... Do or Not to Do?

Has any one of the moms ever had a vaginal birth after having a cesarean? As of now my birth plan is going to be a scheduled cesarean, but I am considering vaginal birth.... is this a safe consideration?

I would love to have the experience of vaginal birth.... some probably think I am crazy for even wanting that... I had two c-sections with both of my children. I have vaguely discussed it with my midwife, but it has been on my mind more lately. She did mention that having another c-section would be generally safer but vaginal birth was not ruled out.... I want to do what is safest for my baby but it the vaginal birth holds just as much risk... why not consider? Do you think you would consider?

This is something you need to discuss with your OB. It will depend a lot on the reasons for your first cesarean and how this pregnancy is going. VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) are possible and happen frequently, but there are risks associated with them.

My midwife takes clients who had c-sections and then desire a vaginal birth so I know it is possible.

I think it depends on the doctor and if they will do it, some won't.

I think it is normal for you to desire a vaginal birth. I know of other c-section mamas who feel the same way, some just can't or won't. I think I'd want to at least try and if all the proper measures were in place, I'd go for it if my doctor/midwife gave the go ahead.
