Pregnancy after 35.....

Okay my last question of the day.... if any of the moms are or have been 35 or older and pregnant. Which testing were you okay allowing doctors to do to check your baby for defects? Some of them sound pretty scary to me and I am not sure I want someone do any invasive testing on my baby... I will be expected to let them know by my next appointment....

I am 37, and pregnant with my first child. Just about ready to deliver. I would not allow them to do any testing that was not medically necessary. They've done the ultrasound, showing if there were any birth defects, or anything out of the ordinary. Every appointment I've been to, everything has been great, baby's heartbeat has been great each time, growth has been normal. I would say unless there is something that is medically necessary, and everything seems to be going great, don't let them bully you into this. My doctor's have been trying to do that the whole time, and my baby is just fine. He moves all the time, has a great sounding heartbeat, and there were no signs of any kind of birth defects or anything out of the ordinary. Even if there were, it would not change my mind. I love my son. I will not let a doctor inject me with something that I am unfamiliar with that could actually harm my baby, even though they say it's just for testing.

Thank you ladies very much for your feedback on the situation... I have 2 other children but it has been 19 years since I had a baby and a lot seems to have changed. So I am feeling very new to pregnancy for some reason. I do truly appreciate and value your honest and heartfelt opinions and advice. I think that I am going to follow my heart on this one and decide to not allow any testing that seems dangerous or unnecessary to me.

what exactly does the triple screen consist of? I really am okay doing any testing that is not invasive.... anything else just seems to a risk and nature defying.
