I'm so confused. :(

My fiance and I want to get pregnant. I was on long-term birth control that would give me only 3-4 periods a year because of PCOS. I went off the BC in February (the 12th) for my 'week of hell' as I call it. lol. Never came. Now I know that it can take up to a year to get everything functioning again, but the thing is for the last6 months I don't think the BC was even really doing it's job. My periods would come (and stay) as long as they wanted, Doc said it was breakthrough bleeding. I still don't buy it. Anywho, after a few weeks no period, we bought some hpt, all neg. So after a another week no period I bought an Ovulation kit....I wanted to see if I was even ovulating. I don't have medical insurance right now because I JUST moved states away and have to wait until May to be active on new insurance. I kept getting negative results on the Ovulation kit, and then (FINALLY) I got a 'high' reading - the blinking smiley face. I WAS ELATED! My first thought was, we need to get in to bed - second was, I'm not broken. That was Sunday (3/23), I got blinking smileys for another two days and then nothing again. I stopped testing my ovulation and on Friday, My period started. So only 4-5 days after it says I have an LH surge my period starts? I'm so confused...Any help out there?

Yeah, they had to do a diagnostic laproscopy and between scar tissue, and the cysts on my ovaries they feel I'll only have 3-5 years before my chances of conceiving and carrying are decreased significantly. I also have other health issues that contribute as well as some family history that doesn't make things easy (My mom had 7 pregnancies and there are only 3 of us, and she almost lost my youngest brother but he was just preme)

I had my son at 31 and he was a miracle baby I have chron's disease and have been on medicine that is supposed to make you sterile with long term use. I was also on depo at the time so I was high risk as well and i was advised against another pregnancy because of my age and health issues so I had a tubal after my son was born . I was diagnosed with pcos after my son was born. my best advice is to let it happen. And i am not trying to be inconsiderate but wouldn't it be better to have insurance before having a high risk pregnancy which is going to require a tremendous amount of pre natal care. I have always seen that women that stress about constantly getting pregnant decrease their chances with the stress. And have you considered other options such as adoption or a surrogate?

It's not that I don't have insurance, I am covered right now, but the policy only covers Hospital/ER right now. I have to wait until the open enrollment (May) To switch my primary care physicians. Before I moved (December) My doc said that She would advise me to start trying if we were ready - well we were but with the move, we didn't want to start trying until we were established. Now that we're both insured (for the most part) and we have money saved and are debt free it seems like a good starting point.

will you be able to see an ob gyn and be covered by insurance? Being high risk I had to go see my ob gyn every two weeks and then in the last month every week. I also had like 10 ultrasounds although my son was cleared medically at 21 weeks they were checking his growth. And Dh and I also met with a genecist to find out my sons chances of being at risk for chron's etc. My medical costs for my pregnancy and delivery were well over 50,000. 6 months is not a long time to try with no results especially after being on bc for a while i think that they say the average time to get pregnant is about a year after being on bc for a while. good luck though and have fun praticing.
