Wednesday our son will be 1 month old, i am breast feeding and the last couple days it seems as if he is not getting full
and he has been pooping about once in 12 hrs but it seems painful. seems i camt do anything bc the only thing to remotely calm him down.
That sounds pretty common. Baby's tummy is near the size of his fist. 2 to 3 ounces will be filling. Also, baby digestive tracts are still developing and pooping difficulties are normal unless the stool is hard and pebble like.Could be gas, over tired, or a very full tummy. I wouldn't worry, just stay calm so baby won't feed off your emotions and cuddle up for what might be a long night.
Don't worry your breast have a tendency to increase breast milk to meetb the demand of the baby. A baby has a tendency to decrease in weight when just starting to breastfeed. Just keep in close contact with the babys bowels and urination. And if he or she is changing with those things tell your pediatrician.
i didnt get to sleep saturday night until sunday morning at 7. and then he woke me back up at 830a. then 10a but then i got to sleep a few hrs.. and have been up since.
you might not be producing as much as he is wanting. But your baby might be going through a growth spurt as well. And man they are rough. I know how you feel. I breast fed both my childre. 1st one till 8 months 2nd for a month. Hang in there though :)
if he is pooping on regular basis though I would say it is a growth spurt. Hang in there. it will be over in few days :)
don't kick urself in the butt over this though. I know your probley going nuts thinking what am I doing wrong...is it my milk? should I quit breast feeding and bottle feed. Some mothers just can't get the milk demanded by a baby. it happens all the time. You cna supplement if you feel comfortable doing that. but the thing with that is people tend to get too comfortable supplementing for formula and loose their supply. if you do do this make sure you still pump a bit
Sometimes babies need a little water. It is normal if he tries to push it aside but I was always told to give my babies water.
