I know it's kinda gross...

But I'm just now having my first period since like...November? I keep feeling "gushes" and soaking through whatever I'm using (usually a tampon). It's starting to concern me. I figure it's probably just because my body is reacting to it being so darn long, but I'm not sure. Has anyone ever had anything like this before?

I was just on long acting low-dose BC but came off of it to TTC. Hopefully it's not always like this...I've had to change twice today and I'm kind of afraid to leave the house...haha.

Thanks, Melissa. I hope so too. My dh and I want to conceive, because we know that once my cysts grow/come back our chances are diminished seriously. I would've gone to my obgyn already but we just moved in December and my insurance hasn't caught up to the fact that I'm in a new state. They said it should be good within the next week. ugh. Red tape sucks.

It sounds a little odd. But dont worry yourself. If the problem stays for more than 24hours and you are still soaking thru I would consult your doctor right away. It doesn't sound like anything serious to me. The body does weird things sometimes.

Tip: If you're trying to get pregnant don't use tampons! Your body needs to clear it self out and tampons hold onto too much.

That's really good to know! It just always feels so clean to wear a tampon. haha. Anyway, thanks ladies. It's been two days now, If it stays this way I'll probably see my dr tomorrow.

If you are filling a large pad in under an hour make sure you call your doctor.

Why have you gone so long without a period?

Because of my cysts, they had be on long-term low dose Birth Control to prevent me from having them regularly because I was in so much pain every time. I would only have 3-4 periods a year. Then once I had surgery and they removed my cysts and fluid, and gave me the green light to TTC I went off of it. I had surgery in December. I spotted in Jan. and then started full out bleeding a few days ago.

Oh, ok, that makes sense. If the bleeding doesn't slow down by tomorrow I suggest calling your doctor. Are you have cramps or pain?

I've been having lots of cramping, but I don't think it's any worse than my periods were before OBC. Before we knew about PCOS we just knew I was 18, bleeding like a murder victim, passing half dollar sized clots and bigger, with AWFUL cramps that Vicodin couldn't touch. Apparently Ijust have to get used to this again... hmph.

It is probably a good idea to see the doctor to make sure you haven't developed any more cysts. I hope you get some answers and relief soon!

So, I talked to my mom (who is an RN) she doesn't know I am TTC. She said because of the amount of bleeding, the cramping, and the fact I've been off of Birth Control I should take a hpt tomorrow morning..If she's right and it's a spontaneous miscarriage this will be my second one. (Other one was in October at 4w, and I honestly only knew because I visited the doc for something completely unrelated, I was still on BC at the time and had a feeling I was preg but had neg. hpt.) Good thoughts please...
