Dish Soap Does Not Work That Way!

So...1 am dishes disaster.
It starts off with the thought: "I need to do the dishes."
This is followed by the thought: "I don't want to do them tomorrow..."
Followed then by: "I'll do the dishes RIGHT NOW!"

Sounds like a great idea, right?
Nnnnno.

While at the grocery store earlier, I did not know that we needed more Dishwasher Soap. Not knowing this, I proceeded to fill up the dishwasher with every dish in the sink. Now, content that the dishwasher is ready, I go to get soap...only problem, we have none. We DO, however, have regular dish soap from Dawn. I do not, however, want to take all of the dishes back out of the dishwasher, completely wash all of them by hand, and dry them by hand as well. It's 1 in the morning. I just want this crap cleaned so I can play my games in peace, then sleep, then wake up to clean dishes.

So this brilliant thought occurs: "Maybe I can use Dawn Dish Soap in the Dishwasher! It's dish soap, right?"

So I google it, and find out that yes, I can, in this sort of situation, use Dawn dish soap with no worries. So I fill up the soap spot in the dishwasher, start it up, and walk away to wipe off the counters and oven.

Not Five minutes later, I go back to the kitchen to find soap bubbles all over the floor, leaking out of the dishwasher. Opening up the dishwasher, the entire machine is full of bubbles, and the soap thing has been emptied, so ALL of that nice dish soap has morphed into these demonic bubbles that are causing me to panic. My husband is asleep and has to wake up very early, and also has Duty Watch all this coming night, so I can't bother him to help. My daughter is 11 months old, so she will most likely not have any good advice either as how to clean this up. Luckily, I have it under control now. I think I...just used too much...soap.

What are some late night or even daytime disasters you moms have done?

Oh my goodness ...craziness! My sister in law uses regular dishsoap in the DW all the time... I was always afraid of this happening so I have never done it!

Anyway...i will never forget the time that my parents were sleeping over and i thought it would be great to set the timer on the coffee maker (pre Keurig days...this was a traditional pot maker) .... I was so proud of my self for setting it up so the aroma would be there when my parents woke up in the AM...well... I FORGOT to put the pot underneath the machine... so guess what happened??? Sure the coffeee brewed at the scheduled time...all OVER the counter and onto the floor! LOL! What a wake up...and of course since they are earlier risers then myself they found it ...cleaned it up and told me about it in the AM... gosh was I embarrassed!

When I was the only Breakfast Shift server at the Steak n Shake near my mom's house, I did something like that once! When 5 am rolled around to get to work, relieve the 3rd shift person, and start setting up the diner, I put the decaf coffee packet stuff into the coffee maker and started it up, but the coffee pot was slightly out of place, so all the coffee, instead of streaming into the pot, splattered off the outer rim instead, soaked all of the napkins and rolled silverware (not to mention to floor and service station in general), and I had to redo all of that as well!
