Chance of miscarriage in third trimester

Third trimester miscarriages are usually called stillbirths or preterm births. The risk of having a stillborn is less than 1%. The risk of having a preterm birth is greater and there are many factors involved. Talk with your doctor and learn what signs and symptoms that you should be concerned about and when to seek medical attention. Try to remind yourself that the risk of losing your baby at this stage is very rare and don't stress about it.

Sadly the cause of many stillborn births is unknown. Many of the babies appear to be normal with no clear cause.

Cord accidents and placental problems are probably some of the more common reasons for stillbirths.

ScaryScaryScaryScary. I couldn't even hear the word still birth when I was pregnant. Ugh. It still gives me chills.

My cousin was pregnant with a baby girl (finally, after 3 boys) and got in a minor fender-bender 11 days before her due date. They took her to the doctor just in case and she said she'd been feeling weird for a few days. The babies heart rate was a little sporadic and since she was technically full term they induced labor. Ella was born looking perfectly normal but was pronounced brain dead. They kept her on life support for 24hrs so she could be baptized and family could see her. It was the saddest thing I've ever seen.

That is very sad, Taylor. It was always a fear of mine since I've experienced early, mid and late miscarriages.
