When is the right time to get your child a bra

We got our girls "training" bras when they first started to develop budding nipples. The age will vary from child to child.

Then as they get older they develop their own taste for bra styles and pick pick out their own after they've tried a couple different ones.

Oh my goodness I am not looking forward to that time with my girls. Why can't they just stay little forever?!?!?!

I know. I'm at the stage where I have three teen daughters and it's still new to me.

My poor Lorilie, started her period when she was in 10 and she has always had "big bust" issues i think she was a c cup in 6th grade and now she is a D cup! i think when she was younger it bothered her but she learned to embrace it! silly girls!

I had to get my step-daughter one at 10 because she began to develop. My mother did to me as well at 11 though. We always got the sports bra kind. I think it helps to start them before they begin but not too early, this way they will learn to wear one and it won't be foreign to them. I explained to my step-daughter that it is like underwear and we do not show our underwear.

oh gosh, i remember my first, it was one of the most traumatizing memories of my life lol. My mother realized that i had started growing, and got me one before we left for church camp, went swimming while there, and the boys had raided our room, finding my bra, and running around swinging it like a flag for all to see, I was about 10 at the time, and the only girl in my church group with one. I am hoping that my daughter wont have such a bad experience when it comes her time, but it sure is funny now to think about it

my mom was very strict about our bras and undies, we were only allowed to have plain jane, "granny" type underware.

My daughter is 11 and has been wearing the cute little sports bras for a couple of years, but now she's hitting puberty and is developing quite a bit more now so we are starting to shop for actual little bras for her now. Thankfully she didn't take after my sister. My older sister started developing breasts in FIRST GRADE!!! She was a size C cup by FOURTH GRADE! Wowza

My daughter is six. I hope I have a few years before I get to this point.

The problem we are having is getting our oldest to actually wear it We have bought a few with her and she seemed receptive but then when we get home she is reluctant to wear one ... so she layers her clothes with a tank instead ... while that works for now it will not work forever. we have had numerous talks ... to no avail!
