Pool safety

I think the biggest thing about safety around pools is that the child knows how to swim. Don't get me wrong, you have to watch them closely but in the event they are in trouble they really need to learn how to tread water at the very least.

Do you teach your kids to swim, or will you take them to classes? I taught both of mine but that was only because I took years of swim and knew how to teach them. If I hadn't, I would have had them in a class for sure.

We did a combination of teaching them and taking them to a swim class.

I think never leaving them alone is important.

My youngest can swim very well, but I still won't let him swim without me or his big sister. I know he thinks I baby him but it's just scary to me.

We went to a man made lake where they DYED (why?) the water blue. You literally couldn't see past a few inched down because it was so dark. I refused to take them back, what if something happened? I wouldn't be able to SEE them under water to help them.

Yeah, I'm a wee bit neurotic about water safety. ;)
