Birthing balls

Birthing balls can be a great way to stretch your achy muscles during pregnancy. From 5 months on I had a hard time getting down to the floor and back up again, so a birthing ball was very helpful to me and it was far more affordable than going to a gym or massage therapist. It really helped the strained feeling on my lower back towards the end of my pregnancy, and some suggest that certain exercises can help baby get into position for birth. Of course, always talk to your physician before starting any new form of exercise.

    I ended up with a c-section, so I didn't get a chance to use my birthing ball...but I do have one, and I still sit on it when my back hurts due to my sciatica. It's kind of awesome how much it helps. I wished I could have tried it more on hospital day.
