Smacking ears

My 22 month old son has been hitting himself open handed in the ears for the last month. He doesn't cry, have a fever or act like he is any pain. Would it be worth taking him to the doctor now or should I wait until his 2 year checkup on May 29th?

Is he cutting his two year molars? Sometimes they tug on ears, etc. when they are teething. I think it would depend on how often he is doing it but if there are no other signs or pain, I'd wait until his May appointment.

How long has he been acting this way? If it seems like it's only a day, I think I'd wait, but if it's been longer, and you can cross offTheresa Gould's suggestion of teething, I'd see a doctor.

Molars often take a while to come in though. Longer than other teeth.

As long as it is not an ear infection ... I think it might be able to wait because it might be teeth...when in doubt just call the doc...they will not charge for that!

He doesn't act like he's in any pain. He's been smacking himself in the ears for about a month. I've had an ear infection before and it hurt like crazy. I would think if he had an infection he would be in pain of some sort. Right now he's sitting in the middle of the floor with his hands over his ears but he's smiling at me.
