I'm torn!

I'm torn on this.. since Monroe will soon be able to realize what the TV is eventually.. but I really don't want him to! I realize some shows can be great for stimulation and education.. but I also think not being zoned into the TV and iPads.. all those gadgets, for as long as we can keep him away can be beneficial too.. for instance, my husband and I have both agreed we want him not using our phones or iPad until he's past 2 years old.. it might sound silly.. but I really hate the reliance on gadgets for little kiddos these days.. I had so much fun pretending and making things and building things when I was little.. and I think kids miss out on that nowadays..

I agree with you about not giving your baby the electronics. However, introducing him to tv could benefit his language skills. You don't have to plop him in front of the tv. Maybe just one half hour episode. With how quickly a babies brain moves to the next thing, he probably won't just sit there and stair at it the whole time. Your could do something like put toys out on the floor for him and put the tv on in the background..... I don't have my little one here yet but I have nannied since I was 15 years old and these are just few things I have picked up

I'm a little militant and really didn't let my kids have much screen time until after 2 years old. I actually don't think it does anything for them in terms of benefit. What I do think it does is benefit the mom if she just needs a break to, say, prepare dinner, which is totally valid if you don't have help. With kids #2 and #3, I was fortunate to have a nanny throughout my mat leave and when I was back at work, so I felt I had enough of a support system to not have to use TV. But I know that not every mom can make that work.
