I think caring is a huge part of parenting. When you care about something, you put all your effort into it. You strive to provide the love and guidance that your children really need. When people compliment me with my daughter's knowledge and behavior, I feel like I'm a good mom. I know that she's my #1 priority. Sometimes, I see women who have kids for the wrong reasons. Your child is more than just a trophy. When you have a baby, you should be thinking "What can I do to enrich the life of this child?" You're raising a little person who is going to grow into an independent adult and a member of our society. They're going to make life choices based on the past you provide for them.

This is a great post Madelyn, and I totally agree. Caring is the most important. If you care, the rest will fall into place :)
