Has any one else have this problem with there kid?

A month ago I noticed that this piece of his gum comes down really low and causing his teeth come in far apart. I took him to the dentist but all they told me was to bring him back In a year

Has any one else have this problem with there kid?

Hmmmm I've never seen anything like that in my kids, but I do know space between teeth is a good thing when they are young since it means there will be room for adult teeth later in life. I would be sure to take him back to the dentist next year and mention that you are concerned and ask them if it will be an issue or not.

It kind of looks like what our 15 year old daughter had/has, but I cannot be absolutely sure since it's been 14 years since she was one. Not to scare you but our dentist wanted to clip it and do something else....we didn't do it. Yes she has a gap between her top two teeth but she has a great smile, even if the dental community considers it less than perfect. My dad had the same gap .

This would be a lip tie. Which I honestly never heard of before I joined a breastfeeding moms group on Facebook. A lot of dentists DO want to clip it, and a lot of breastfeeding moms tend to get them clipped because it can cause a "bad latch." This also resembles my daughter's mouth. I have no plans on clipping hers. It can cause a gap between the front two top teeth, but I always kind of liked that. My dad had one, my older brother, and myself all have gaps between our teeth. And like Theresa said, great smiles. :)

I wouldn't worry too much if your dentist doesn't seem concerned. There really isn't anything he/she can do right now anyway (besides clipping). Let us know what you decide to do!

My kids have that too. It is called a lip tie. Usually lip ties will resolve on their own when the child grows and when the teeth come in. Many kids will even break their lip tie when they fall down and it will bleed but doesn't cause any damage to them. It can be clipped when they are older if it is causing a problem.

Did you breastfeed your baby? Did you have any problems or any pain?

I wouldn't worry over that just yet! There's a reason not many people have heard of/know what a lip tie is. It CAN be an issue with latch during breastfeeding, which is why a lot of breastfeeding mothers tend to get their little one's lip ties clipped. I wasn't breastfed, so my mom never cut mine. I had zero speech issues. Don't worry over something that may or may not come to pass. :) Just enjoy that beautiful boy!
