Savannah still clenches her hands. Not all the time and not nearly as tight but I thought she was supposed to stop clenching her hands by now
Does she open them on her own occasionally? I think you want to see her at least attempting to open up and bat at things by this age. The clenching is more of a comfort thing, so she could be doing it just because it feels good. As long as she's capable of opening them her motor development is on track.
My son does that but does it less now. His physical therapist that visits him once a week, told me to gently stroke the back of his hand to urge him to open them. She told me to lay them flat on his thighs or a table and gently press. I have been doing that, mostly the gently rubbing the back of his hands (over the knuckles) and he has been opening them more frequently.
That's interesting they do say up to 4 months. I would see her pediatrician if your concerned. All babies are different.
I'm not sure if I ever remember Charlie clenching hands? Your pediatrician will give you the best answer to this. Don't base anything on what other babies are doing. I'd be going nuts right now if I thought that he was behind because of what other kids are doing. Keep us posted!
