Tell me more about you and your baby and I can help you come up with a good pumping schedule.

    How old is your baby?
What kind of breastfeeding routine do you have?
How long are you going to be away from your baby?

While you are away from your baby you need to pump every two to three hours. You have to pump as often as your baby is eating (at least at first). I suggesting having a good quality double electric pump.

Do you have a place to pump as work? Does your employer know you will be pumping? Your employer is legally required to allow you to pump in most states and they are required to provide you a clean and private place to pump.

        Great!!

Also make sure you use some sensory triggers to help you pump when you are away from your baby. Bring a picture of your baby, think about your baby, bring a piece of clothing already worn that smells like your baby, and some moms even record their baby's cry and that helps too.

Block the time off on your calendar at work. It's the only way I can keep on schedule and sometimes I need the calendar reminder to remind me. I pump every 3 hours (my daughter is 6 months now) and that's what I've been doing since I went back to work after my leave. The biggest thing is to stay on a regular schedule (or as close as you can).

Do you have a pumping bra to use? It makes so much easier! Especially the days I am so busy I can continue working, eat my lunch or read a book.
