Newborn baby sleeping all day: something wrong?

I was really worried about how often Charlie slept when he was born. I had to constantly rub a wet towel on him to wake him up to eat and to KEEP him awake! Even at 2 weeks old his new cousins were so bummed because they wanted him to be this awake happy giggly baby and he just slept and slept and slept. Growing takes a lot out of a baby. I had to remind myself that just a short while ago, he wasn't even breathing the way he is now. As long as your baby is eating a healthy amount every day, I would say don't worry about how much they sleep. Charlie slept for about 23 hours a day when he was born and it took a few weeks for me to notice a real change in that. As always, talk to your pediatrician if you are concerned :)

Mercy! Tristen never slept like that. He only slept about 6 hours every 24 hours...and never more than an hour at a time. I had to train him to get him to sleep. I wouldn't mind having another one if they slept like that :-)
