ACOG and APP statement on delivering in the water

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology along with the American Academy of Pediatrics have release a statement about water birth. They say laboring in the water has benefits for relaxation and pain relief. They say that delivering in the water has no proven benefits and is dangerous. Due to this statement being released some hospitals are changing their policy to ban deliveries in the water.

I always found laboring in the tub to be very comforting. I have never delivered in the tub, I always delivered in the hospital bed. As a doula I encourage all of my clients to labor in the tub. Our local hospital has never allowed tub deliveries so nothing is change at our hospital.

Did you deliver your baby in the water? Do you plan on delivering your baby in the water?

I've never delivered in the tub or labored in a tub, but I was sad when I read this a while ago. I've heard so many women LOVE their water births!
