Sleep..is it really going BYE BYE?
I need to know ladies.. sleep.. it's really going away, isn't it?
Is it about the consecutive hours? The late nights? All of it? What makes it REALLY hard. I already stay up freakishly late.. like 2am working typically.. and get up around 8.. but hello, I am not responsible for a BABY yet. I would love to know what really ruined your sleep.. the hours, short times, just new schedule, late nights, early mornings, everything blurring together?
Let me have it!
The worst part for me was the anticipation of them waking up... again.. If I heard them stir or make a noise or a little cry, which they do in their sleep, I was ALERT... and then after I realized they were fine, I would go back to sleep.. but it would take me a while to let go and fall asleep.. .It's hard to sleep with one ear/eye open..
For me, I need to be fully relaxed... but with a new baby and sometimes school age kids, you know they are going to get up soon and so even though I'm "falling: asleep, there's a part of me that stays alert...
I slept great in the beginning... They were right next to me in their crib, or fell asleep on me after nursing or the bottle and I liked that... It's when they go into their own room is when my sleep was gone..
I learned to sleep sitting up... in a chair or on the couch many many times... and sometimes the 40 minute nod off during nursing was the best sleep I ever got.. Still is.. :)
But just FYI... You adapt... and you don't really care all that much... cause you are with your BABY!!!! Theres a total fog that you can see on a new moms face... and yes, there are days where your eyes feel like sandpaper and your body is so heavy... but for the most part... it just is... and you love it...
