Quick Grammar lesson!

This is one that irks me all the time...remember this and use them properly!

Their: Use this to show this person possession "Their house is beautiful"

There: Use this to show direction "The house is over there"

They're: A contraction short for They are "They're a beautiful family!

Sorry rant over... Just see this used incorrectly SO many times on Facebook that I thought I would share with the mom community!

So, I am not the only who is annoyed with improper grammar? I go beyond that, though. I dislike misplaced punctuation marks, improper contractions (ain't is an improper contraction), misspelled words, and poor grammar. I have to overlook my husband on all of this. I do, occasionally, have typos; I annoy myself with this. I will be the one who teaches our children to speak properly, I suppose.

I know, I know. I can be a brat about that. Even I have typos, to which I annoy myself with. I even correct myself, but I refrain from correcting others. I used to be terrible for doing that, correcting others on their grammar and word choice, but I have stopped that.

Also, subject-verb agreement. Too many people have forgotten this rule.

Thank you for correcting grammatical errors I had in my last post, I'm not very good in the English language, believe me I try every day to learn more about your language.
Excuse me, was not my intention to bother you.

Those bug me when I read the wrong ones too.

But what what REALLY make me want to SCREAM is "______ as best _____" examples "I will do as best I can" or "The weather is as best as can be". I want to scream, and often do at the TV, " It is I WILL DO MY BEST!!!!. or a more proper way of saying it.

It bugs me when people misuse were and was or seen and saw. Example: "I SEEN that yesterday." I always want to scream, "you SAW that!" Or when the same people say "We was going..." No, no, no, and no. "You WERE going..." My husband's family speaks that way and it drives me crazy.

Another big thing they do when speaking to my daughter they say "Awww hers loves ____" or "hers is so big!" Please, for all that is good in the world, say SHE. lol
