8 Week Miscarriage

I miscarried once at 6 weeks and once at 8 weeks. For the 8 week one I noticed some brownish/red staining. I called my doctor right away and they had me come in for an ultrasound. They found the fetus but told me it hadn't developed past 5 weeks even though I was technically 8 weeks pregnant. Because it was still so early they said I probably wouldn't need a D&C.

We cried a lot and went home. The bleeding intensified over the next 48hrs and I had some strong cramps. The physical pain was uncomfortable but the emotional pain was worse. I was laying on the couch after trying to eat something when I got a really bad cramp. I went to the bathroom and felt something plop out of me. The cramps stopped almost immediately then. I knew I had passed the baby. I was so sad. It was the most terrible feeling in the world.

The bleeding lasted about a week. It was basically just a little longer then a normal period. I got my next period 28 days later too, so my cycle recovered quickly. Passing the baby at home was hard but I'm glad I didn't have to get a D&C.

Sorry for your loss. I've had miscarriages at home and in the hospital, both with and without a D&C. I prefer to miscarry at home.
