Cradle Cap Treatment

My son was getting severe cradle cap. I started using others' tips on how to rid it, to no avail. I found the baby oil in gel form works the best because it keeps the head moist throughout the day, and it isn't messy. I also use a fine toothed comb to gently comb it out, also rubbing a cloth with the baby oil gel on it on the bald parts of the head helps it come off easier, without hurting the baby. Jonah only gets cradle cap in a few small spots on his head once in a while. I put the gel on in the morning and before he goes to bed. I believe that everyone needs to find what works for his/her child though.

What do you mommies use?

Oddly enough, my nephew Noah never did, either. Lol
I was using the regular oil but it wasn't helping. He is very fair skinned like his daddy, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it?

Hmm. I may try that. Do you use it with regular baby shampoo or a soap or certain kind?

It's working! I have not had to use a comb or baby oil gel in days. :) And his hair feels softer.

I am going to try the soft scrub brush.

I will. He rarely gets it now, but I hate it when he does...he looks like he isn't cared for.

We used olive oil a couple of times a week. It helped to clear it up quickly! We put it on her and then waiting a minute or two before combing it, then rinsed and then used a mild baby soap to wash away the oil.

Yes, I found a fine toothed comb helps to remove it as well.

We are still battling cradle crap (my words!) at 19 months. Maddie used to get it between her eyes, and we used oil for that, and that was fine. However, now that her hair is so long, we struggle to oil and rub at her scalp. I just bought a few specific products to try to help--if they work, I'll post about them.
