infant sleeping

What do u recommend? do u follow all of todays safety standards or do u do things differently? Today its recommended .to only have a sheet over the mattress pad n nothing else w/ baby. no blanket, toys, bumper pads, etc. Also to place baby on back to sleep. Ive heard diff things from close friends n family. Many say to put on side so that theyre head doesnt get flattened n then they can turn how they want. my mom placed us on our tummies so we could spit gunk out (thinking if on our backs wme might get choked. Im getting mixed msgs lol. Also i think bumper pads wouldnt hurt or a blanket but i could see where toys n pillows might cause smothering.

But with all this being said, I made it out ok along w/ many others who didnt do it "by the book". What do u recommend n whats been ur experience? i bet i mix things up with position of baby. Since mine will b sleeping in a bassinet most likely, i might not place anything inside with him. maybe a light blanket

Here is a link to Safe Sleep Guidelines:

I tried to follow the guidelines as much as possible. I did cosleep though, even thought it is against the guidelines, but I practiced safe cosleeping.

I agree. I understand why they say it is unsafe. I think it can be done safety.
