When can babies have peanut butter

I've always been told/read/heard, you should wait until your baby is at least 1 year old to introduce these foods. These forbidden baby foods included egg whites, peanut butter, shellfish, crustaceans and citrus.
Many foods listed should not be given until a certain age due to possible health issues, recommendations changed - anywhere from 6 months to 2 years old. Ask your pediatrician first before giving your child a potentially allergenic food, if they recommend to wait till a certain age.
Experts used to say you shouldn't give young children eggs, fish, or peanut products because the child might develop a food allergy. But the latest research from the American Academy of Pediatrics found there's no evidence that babies develop allergies from the early introduction of these foods. Still, some doctors recommend caution when it comes to introducing foods. If you're concerned that your child might have an allergy to certain foods, introduce them one by one and keep an eye out for an allergic reaction.
