Is this test really necessary? What is it testing exactly?
My doctor wanted to give me the glucose test and I was wondering what it's supposed to test for exactly. I know it's not painful, but is it really necessary?
I would SOOOO say it is 100% necessary, not only for you, but for your un born baby as well.
The three hour glucose test is completely necessary, but a little inconvenient. What it does is it lets you/the doctors know exactly how your body is processing it's glucose and at what rate. It helps determine if you are at risk or have gestational diabetes.
I was supposed to take the 3 hour but my fasting sugar was so high that they skipped it and went straight on to treating me for gestational diabetes. It is a very important test because if you do indeed have diabetes there are a lot of things you need to do differently during your pregnancy.
