how to make myself be more okay wity internal exam

You can refuse to have one if you are very uncomfortable with it. Until you're actually in labor, there's no real point to them anyway if you aren't having any complications. That said, remember that there's going to be a whole lot more going on down there soon, so you may want to take a deep breath and just let it happen so that you can begin getting your mind and body used to the idea of your doctor being that up close and personal.

I never had a problem with the internals - they weren't comfortable, but I trusted my doctor and knew that it was an important part of pregnancy.

I assumed an internal exam to check for dilation and effacement... but that's just based on what I had done around that stage of my pregnancy, so I could be totally wrong... in which case my comment should be ignored!!
