Doctors Appointments:

I live in a sort of small city, that has boomed in population in the last five years. The problem is the medical groups haven't caught up to the boom, so there is only one OB/GYN practice in town. They can't see me until July 16th (or 23rd, i can't remember right this second. lol). I feel like that's a really long time, I'll already be 16 weeks along... SO I called my PCP and she can't even see me until May 30th. They're going to take bloodwork and probably do an ultra sound (at my PCP) to make sure everything's going okay. Then I'll be in my OB's hands.

I am concerned because my last pregnancy ended in miscarriage at only 6 weeks. I won't be seen by anyone until at least 8 weeks. Is that normal? It just makes me a little anxious.

Honestly, I am a little worried, but not too much. The problem is is that there is literally no other practice in town. There is only one hospital here. The next closest place is an hour and a half away, but in labor, I probably wouldn't make it to the hospital. And I want to deliver at the hospital.

I definitely did voice my concerns, and they worked with me the best they could, but that's just how it is here. I think what I might do is go to the walk in clinic here in town (they don't take appointments, just walkins) just to make sure everything's okay. I'm hoping to do that once my insurance kicks (May 5th.)

I really hope they can help you out! This would be quite stressful, and stress is the last thing you need!

I know, and I'm trying not to stress about anything. They said they'd call me if anything opens up sooner.

I'm feeling essentially normal, lol. I've been irritable/moody for about two weeks. I've been really run down lately, too. And my boobs are sore. But no nausea or anything, but it's still early. I'm just trying to stay low stress and happy as possible. :)

You know, it really depends on your doctor. It does seem like a long time to wait until you are 16 weeks but 8 weeks not so much because many are just learning they are pregnant at 8 weeks. I'd see your PCP at 8 weeks and continue to see her until you get into the OB.

Is there a way to get on their cancellation list so you can get in sooner? I'd go that route too.

Sorry to hear of your previous miscarriage. I've had six ranging from 8 weeks to 18 weeks into pregnancy. I was always nervous with my next pregnancy so I understand your concerns and worries.

Theresa Gould - I'm on waiting lists at both offices, so hopefully I'll be able to get in sooner. But even still, if I get too anxious (which I probably will,) I'll get in to the walk in clinic and just make sure everything's good. I have very mixed feelings right now. I go between crazy anxious, and feeling so in love already, and being so DARN EXCITED!

Thanks for your ideas, Theresa, It means a lot. I tried to talk to my mom about it but she doesn't want to hear about anything to due with this pregnancy.
