Thoughts on joining the Navy for a mom

For me personally, I couldn't. I wouldn't and couldn't leave my family. I also do not feel the patriotic call above my calling as a mother.

What about you?

I know, it is a scary thought, isn't it?

Definitely appreciate those who are serving. Thank you on your husband's behalf for your service and sacrifice!

As a mother in the Military I can say it can be very difficult at times. Last year I had to deploy for the first time after having a child, and it was very hard on me. Thank God I have a wonderful and loving husband who supports my career and takes care of the family while I am gone. My current pregnancy will keep me from deploying again, and though selfish I am glad I don't have to go again anytime soon.

However, through all that I love my career in the military and can't think of anything else I would want to do in this stage in my life. Though I will be retiring from the military in about 7 years.

Same here, I don't want to leave my children. However If things get worse financially it is tempting to sign up for something that would provide a better future for them.

My sister in law is in the military and my brother is a stay at home dad mostly. I have always worked full time 40-50 hours weekly but I could never take not coming home every night to them.

I have always wanted to be apart of the military (and am a military wife) however, once I had my son the thoughts of joining have been either removed from my mind or pushed so far back that it isn't even a thought anymore. I have always been super patriotic and wanted to be apart of that but I can not imagine going away for at least 2-4 months for basic training and then possibly a deployment. 1 night alone is too long to be away from my son! For those that can do it and do it I commend you because that has to be the hardest part of the job!
