Advice For Moms With Children Leaving For College
My daughter is no where near college yet, but when I left for college in 2006 I was glad that my mother wasn't super weepy or sad about me leaving. She of course was sad she wouldn't be seeing me and having me live in her house, but she knew that college was going to be a great fun adventure for me and she was happy for me. I think while you can be sad they are leaving you you need to encourage the transition, let them know they always have you and they can always come back home, but let them spread their wings and find their own way.
Right now she is saying she wants to live at home when she goes to college. I have no doubt that will change when she gets closer to that age though!
But.. really it's like every other milestone. It's killing me that Charlie is able to *almost* hold his own bottle, but without a start, they can't move forward. It's tough, nobody can say it's easy. Sit back and be proud of your child. And go take a vacation :)
