6 year old ADHD boy problems

I need some mom to mom advise on my son... He is 6 years old, almost 7, has ADHD and takes medicine for it which I want more than anything to get him to behave without the medicine for the sake of it being $250/month. He is wild, doesn't listen, has no respect, doesnt care if you take every toy away from him, I have tried taking things away, taking everything but his bed away, spanking, corner, exercises, you name it I have probably tried it. I am ready to pull my hair out and not sure what to do with him to get him to mind.

I went to the link and have started to look through there. I have heard of using essential oils like Lavender to calm and stuff and I have actually used the lavender and it helps but I would need to figure out a way to get like a roll on stick for him to keep adding it throughout the day as it only lasts about an hour or two. I don't want the medicine because I no longer have medicine and cannot afford the $250/month plus the doctor visits when they only retell me what I already know. (not trying to sound like I know everything or am angry or anything like that) ADHD is very frustrating because he is SO smart and it crushes me everyday to see him struggle. When he takes the medicine there are so many side effects, hes not like a robot like some of them but he has random acts of depression where he will start crying out of no where and say things like "I should be punished for everything bad I have ever done my whole life, I don't deserve anything" and as a mom to him and he is only 6 this kills me. I want nothing to do with any of these medicines that are hurting my son. They also dry out his eyes really bad and now he blinks constantly, and we had to get him glasses (not sure if that stems from the medicine or not) but all of these things started when the medicine started. I am going to just keep looking and searching for alternatives. :)

Thank you so much! I would love any advice you have about the essential oils. We work with his diet a lot as far as keeping natural sugars out as much as possible and they say the coloring is bad for them as well like Red is the worst, we watch that but now we watch all colors lol. What blends do you suggest we try? I an completely open for ideas. I have heard of a lady that her son uses the in Tune thing and I hadn't heard of the others before. The last of the medicine will be this next week. I plan on not having something completely figured out by then. We normally only have him on the medicine on the weekdays when he is in school and off on the weekends, so the transition shouldn't be too bad.
