Does a baby need help to start walking?

If the child is physically healthy then no, they really don't. It's normal for them to pull up and cruise on their own. Most parents find this time exciting and encourage their babies to walk towards them, perhaps even holding onto a hand or some other form of physical encouragement. All of that is helpful and wonderful and makes for a great bonding experience. They don't have to have that type of encouragement but it sure is fun for both parties involved!
