My Mother Swears SHE Knows Best!

My mother is going through a divorce, and has moved here to Ohio to live with me. I love that Jaime has his grandma in his life so much more, but boooy does she have some different ideas on how to raise him. We don't argue necessarily, just disagree on a few things. For instance, Jaime's in the 95% percentile for height, but only the 50% for weight. So, I offer him more baby food (which he happily takes!). My mother insists he needs more formula. Even though he's gaining weight gradually now and his pediatrician is thrilled, she insists the "old ways" are the right ways. Whew! Anyone else have a mother that just knows it all? :)

He starts his day with a bottle, then 4 oz. of a baby food fruit mixed with cereal. He drinks on his bottle off and on until lunch, where he has a meat and vegetable (anywhere from 4-8 oz.). He has another bottle between then and dinner, where he eats 4-8 oz. of vegetables. Finally, at bedtime he has his last bottle. Did I mention that each bottle is between 5-6 oz. lol? My lil man is an eater, but has a very high metabolism. He also gets 2 oz. of juice mixed with 2 oz. of water throughout the day.

My mom has given me advice when I ask ... but never insisted her way is the best...I think that would be hard to deal with... how are you coping?

That is how my mother is; she has had six girls and is a grandmother of 17, so she understands that each baby/child is different.

I have a sister-in-law that does...and, if you don't listen to her, you have to hear about it. She will go on and on or say, "Well..." and press her lips together, put her nose in the air, and walk off all snooty. She lives right next door, too! My hubby told me to "yes her to death" and ignore her (she irritates me, sorry). I will even tell her, "His pediatrician said to." And she will say, "Well, I don't like him. You need to switch doctors. He doesn't know what he's talking about." She's never even met the man.
She is the type that pushes too far, tells you how to live your life, how to raise kids, and puts her nose where it doesn't belong. I have to ask God for strength, everyday, in dealing with her...but she drives me crazy.
