My mother gave my baby fresh pineapple, he's 6 months. Is it ok?

Pineapple is not recommended as a first food for your baby to try. Pineapple is very acidic, also unripened pineapple can cause diarrhea and a rash around baby's mouth from the acid.
Pineapple is commonly responsible for flare ups in babies with infant reflux and is best avoided.
I was told you should wait till 10 months of age to introduce pineapples.
When you do try puree first or tiny shreds first. You can also try mixing it with other purees such as banana, sweet potato, pear and coconut milk.

Yea it's rough on the digestive track , but ripe pineapple isn't as bad. When checking if its ripe pull on the leaf it should come out also have a sweet smell by the stalk.

Pineapple is acidic, but it's not necessarily bad. They are now saying that you can give your baby all foods starting at 6 months and there is no need to wait unless you have a family history of allergies to certain foods. The thoughts on allergies have changed. If your baby had pineapple and didn't react badly (like rash around the mouth or diaper rash due to the acidity) then I wouldn't hesitate to give it again.

Lis, the first reaction is almost never anaphylactic. They recommend you giving it early now. The thinking is that we are so 'clean' in North America and germophobes that our immune systems are essentially bored and will attack anything that resembles an allergen which explains why we have such abnormally high levels of allergies to things like nuts. Unless you have a nut allergy in your family, it is recommended to introduce peanut butter at 6 months now.

Right, that's why it's better to wait till at least 10 months for their digestive system to handle it.
