Crib Bumpers

Hi mamas! So this is the night.. Charlie will go into his crib *tears*. He's just gotten too big for that bassinet, so it's time. Suck it up mama.

Anyways, I've read all of the scary stuff about crib bumpers and how they can be a suffocation hazard. Charlie will be 5 months old next week, do you think the mesh ones are a good choice? He sure is active in his sleep, he's learned how to roll over so now he sleeps on his side/stomach area. The crib has wide slots between the wood so I'm nervous (though not completely crazy about it) that he may get caught.

So I need some expert opinion. Do I just put him in the crib and see if it's even an issue? Go with mesh just to be safe?

Mesh bumpers would be safer but it's best to go without any.
We have not used crib bumpers and my daugther has been sleeping in her crib since she was one month old. She might get her foot stuck every once in awhile, though not worth the risk of using the bumpers.
