My Choice to Parent Differently Does Not Imply Your Way Is Wrong

I love this article and I think the author has it figure out. I feel like anytime I tell someone how I did or plan on doing something they take it personal. I even have family who get very defensive and upset. I try to tell them my choice is not implying their's is wrong.

Do you ever have friends or family get defensive for seemingly no reason?

This is so true. No family is perfect but we all have our own way of doing things. And no way is better or worse...it's just what works for us. That is one of the reasons I love this site so much. I can actually get on here and talk freely and have never felt attacked for the way my family does things.

I think that happens because parenting is such a personal thing and everyone wants to believe they are doing the best for their children so to hear other people state that they are doing something differently sort of gets people's backs up and they get defensive. What other people do is not an indication that how you do things is wrong. Just different.
