Carrots for babies: when to start
If you are doing mashed foods, I think carrots can be one of the earliest foods you offer--from six months on. Carrots were the first vegetable we gave my daughter, and the pictures are very worth it!
I think carrots are easier for babies to eat because they are kind of bland on the palette. Neither of mine were a fan of the greens but carrots might as well have been candy, lol.
Carrots *may* have high levels of nitrates so parent's should be careful with these. There are so many websites out there to help out with what foods are best to start with, which they can go to next and so on. I didn't know about the nitrates in carrots until I was reading about how to puree them for baby food.
We too started with carrots... just be aware that feeding only carrots can cause the skin to turn a twinge of orange! Sometimes babies look like a little oompah loompah!
