Can you give your baby sugar water

I've heard that in the past, sugar water was given to babies but we know better now. I say no. Water has no nutritional value, and sugar is well, sugar. I can't think of a reason I would give Charlie sugar water.

I don't understand why someone would drink sugar water let alone give it to a baby?

In my opinion juice is basically sugar water with flavor and color!

We have given sugar water to K. For pain, constipation, and many other reasons. You don't put sugar in it to make it sweet, I was given it, as was my brother, niece, other family. For pain and other reasons. My daughter does drink juice, as she can not have milk, besides soy milk, which she does not like to drink often as her body gets used to it and starts to react just like how it does when her lactose intolerance is acting up. and she drinks water very often; juice is more of a treat.

Now that I think of it, isn't Karo syrup given to babies for constipation? I wonder if its along the same line as sugar water or maybe it has karo in it?

Pretty much, we talked to her doctor before it. She used to vomit all her formula up and scream the whole time, breast feeding did not work out, we switched her formula 4 times, then they told us she had acid reflux, which she did not. She has always been lactose intolerant, and her body wouldn't accept the formula. She still has it, and she doesn't like soy milk all the time, so her being lactose intolerant made constipation pretty much a routine thing. So we used sugar water, which worked wonders. Always warm water with a half a teaspoon of sugar.
