My daughter is three also. She rarely throws a fit about anything, but when she does, it's bad. When she gets to a point where she's not listening to anyone anymore, I say "no more, you're going to lay down." I put her in her crib, which is a safe place, and I tell her she's not coming back out until she calms down. I turn out the light and shut the door behind me. After about 10-15 minutes, once she's quiet, I go back in and ask if she's ready to calm down and listen. I've heard from a study once that if your child starts throwing a fit, that you should put them in a safe place, like their room, and keep them in there. They throw a fit because there's an "audience", which is you lol, so once you take away the audience, they see no need to keep acting out because nobody is there to see it. Usually after a few minutes, they get the message. And if you continue to do this, they'll understand that every time they throw a fit, they're just gonna go to their room and won't be able to come out until they are quiet. I've heard it works really well and it's a safe method because they are in a familiar room. It works well with my daughter!
