When is a good time to start working out?
I'm dying to start training for this 5k that I want to run next year, and I'm just wondering when is a good time to start working out? I had my son 3 weeks ago.
Docs orders was no strenuous activity including working out until 6 weeks. I wouldn't start running at all yet, I found that I often felt great and then when I started doing too much i could really tell. I would say I started walking around 4 weeks out but not for long or tough terrain. Maybe make a call to your doc and see what they reccommend but I was told 6 weeks.
I think you will feel when your body is ready. You probably will need couple more weeks to heal completely before you can start working out. It's better to start from walking/jogging short distances and just watch how you feel about.
I am pretty certain your doctor will give you the best go ahead.. each women's body heals at a different pace.. and depending on the activity, they can help tell you when!
Yeah the general time frame is 6 weeks but we often start feeling well before then. However, if we start to push it we can start to bleed a new and lengthen the healing process. Better to wait for the doctor's go-ahead than risk a set back. You can always call your doctor's office and tell them how you are feeling and what you want to do, they may move up your 6 week appointment, who knows. It never hurts to ask. Glad to hear you are doing well! I've been thinking about you!
