I have a newborn and pregnant again: can I breastfeed

Yes, you can. I have breastfed through pregnancies. I have also stopped breastfeeding when the breast soreness was too much or if I felt my space was being infringed upon. I believe I was tandem nursing in both of these situations and stopped nursing my two year old, then my nine month old a few months later.
