My "daughter" (I was her youth pastor and she still calls me mom) sent me the sweetest card for Mothers Day...she has been through so much in her young life. Her Mom has been an alcoholic her whole life, and her Dad who she didn't know for a long time passed away just a few years ago. Now she has one year of college left, she is studying to be a nurse, carries a 4.0 gpa and earned a full 4 year ride scholarship through academics. She works 2 jobs and supports her Mom and even pays all of her moms bills. And has still somehow managed to go on several missions trips and payed her own way to Europe twice. I may never give birth to a girl but if I did I would want her to be just like "my girl" I am so proud of her and love her to death! Such a good reminder that investing in someone's life will never be a waste of time. I am so thankful that I have been able to be a part of her life! Having a mushy moment! Lol

Where I'm at now, I tend to think of how I got here, how I made it this far, and it was so much because of people like you, and the more I look back the more I see it.
You helped me through tough times when I needed to call you, held me accountable for my actions, and were there for me, still are, and because of you, those things have made me who I am today and I am ever grateful. So if you ever think that I forgot...I didn't!"

How sweet and special that you guys have such a great bond. It's awesome that she thinks of you on Mother's Day and her note is SO THOUGHTFUL. It must feel good to know that you really helped her and even more so that she recognizes and appreciates it.
It is a good feeling. I am so proud of this girl. She has had every obstacle against her and somehow managed to become this incredible person. Not sure how she's done it but I admire her and tell her all the time I wish it had some of her bravery.
