Dear mom judging the mom on her iPhone

I read a bit about the article the link below references on Facebook but did not really engage too much in it. I try really hard not to judge and I try to put myself in a person's place first. In this day of technology, do you use your iPhone when you are at the playground with your children? Would you call another mom abusive or neglectful for using her iPhone? I don't think I would because most of the time I have my phone with me. It serves as my camera as well as mode of communication. I tend to agree with the author of this article and say give her, give us a break. Just because we use our phones does not mean we do not love our children. Who's to say the mom got out of the house and went to the park just to get some air and some breathing space? We don't know the whole situation of her life.

Heck no I wouldn't call them abusive or neglectful! I don't understand why people think that you must engage with your child 24/7 and can never have time to do what you want to do. That's how mommy wars start. "I do this and this and this better than you do" when the reality is most of us do our best.

And I have to wonder, would anyone blink an eye if it was a woman at the park reading a book? I don't know about you ladies, but when I get into a good book the world could be on fire around me and I may not notice. With my cell phone, well it's just not as intriguing, but I might do a quick game of Candy Crush if I am bored.

As a working mom I am checking on work every few hours every single day, even on my days off. The way I see it, I am lucky to be able to work from home and be with my kids, even if that means I have to be on my phone or computer when I am with them.

No one should be sad for my kids, when they see my working they are not feeling neglected, they know that mommy has to work. They know I need to work to provide them with everything they need.

Last summer I took my kids outside during my workday and I worked outside enjoying the nice weather. My kids don't need my attention every second, especially when they are playing.
