Spotting while breastfeeding: is it normal

Though it wasn't normal for me, I have heard that some women have break through bleeding even in the absence of their period.

While breastfeeding your body is still experiencing hormone fluctuations. Usually break through bleeding occurs when baby starts to sleep through the night, is away from you for a period of time, baby is ill or teething and feedings are reduced.

It was never normal for me either but I suppose it is possible!
It's totally normal to spot when your breastfeeding. With my oldest, I didn't have any spotting or period until I was 9 months post partum. With my second I was spotting off and on and with my most recent, I had a full blown period about 5 weeks post partum and i breastfed all of them. But it's completely normal.
