Online Game for kids with Chat???

My children have recently found a online game called Animal Jam... it is a cute interactive game where you choose and animal and it has a home you can decorate and you can play games with it. Unfortunately it also has a chat feature where other members can interact with you, when you are in the main forest setting.... my children are no longer allowed to play this game unsupervised because of the chat issue... this is not private chatting it is like a chat bubble that you can place on the screen and everyone sees it regardless if they wish to or not. And needless to say some things some players say are not nice! i have not banned the game altogether yet because it has not been too often that there is inappropriate things on the site but I DO monitor their sessions!

Have you ever had this issue with children and online gaming?

survival mode is not an online mode survival is where you are able to be killed by things its a challenge thing and its an actual game setting.if you die in survival which is a challenge to stay alive in you loose all your progress in your world and start over. She probably plays on god mode then where she has everything she needs given to her and she can die. but when she does not everything is lost it brings her back to where the game to her house or where she died. Good thing about mine craft is she can set up a privet server where only her friends can access that can be only her friends and people she knows. and then they can create a world together. and you can go on it too intact you guys can set it up for her and her friends that you know. Out of all the gaming options its the most benign one and possibly the safest.

When my child(ren) are old enough, they will be allowed some game time but never games where online chatting is involved. One never knows what creep is lurking on a site with online games. Also, I'd rather have him more into books than games. Both my hubby and I are book worms, so I am hoping he inherited this desire.

this can be very dangerous as Ive recently learned some games have voice changers so a grownup could be contacting your children and you never know it.
