Giving water to babies: when?

Some pediatricians like mine recommend your baby starting with a little bit of water at 6 months. Gradually increase the amount you give to them so they are drinking at least 8 oz of water by age 1.

If mine showed and interest in my water, I'd give it to them but I didn't have a goal other than only giving them milk or water and one serving of 100% juice with breakfast.

I believe I started giving him some around three months, but just a half ounce to an ounce. It was nursery water. His formula was mixed into it anyway. He likes water. It gets rather hot here, so a few sips of water helps him keep hydrated.

Whats in nursery water? I just do water that runs through our purifier.

It is distilled. But, my mom used the Brita filtered water for my nephew, and it was the same. Nursery water has low levels of fluoride in it to make it safe. We were told by nurses at our hospital to use it.

Oh okay, I don't like fluoride I have a pur filter and it cleans the town water and helps get rid of fluoride.

We are wanting to get one of those. We buy bottled water because of the taste and contents in our town water.
