Babies at weddings

I'm addicted to Dear Abby... I read it every day on yahoo... Today there was a question about a baby at a wedding.. I think that weddings are supposed to bring families together-not just adults.. If somebody has a baby you shouldn't expect them to leave that baby at home. If the bride is so insecure that she's worried about a baby taking her attention, then she can just leave the whole family out of the wedding. But that's just my opinion. I'm also not a big fan of babysitters (it's a trust thing thanks to my ex husband). God gave me that baby to take care of, it's a 24/7 job until that baby is old enough to take care of itself.

But that's me and I'm old fashioned and my comment was hidden because how dare I think parents' first priority should be taking care of a 2 month old, not making a sister-in-law happy by leaving wife and baby or just baby at home.

I agree that all family members should be allows at weddings. That said, I wouldn't be offended if I was invited to a wedding that was adults only. Some people can't afford to pay for everyone's kids to eat at the wedding and if they let my baby come then other people could be offended. I don't really like baby sitters either so I'd have to decide if going to the wedding would be worth hiring a baby sitter.

I wouldn't be offended if I was invited. I would be offended if I was part of it and then learned my kids weren't allowed. I would have to back out and I couldn't promise I would be nice about it.

I don't think I have ever been to a fancy adult-only wedding. That would eliminate two-fifths of my gutsiest from my wedding. A wedding party doesn't seem like a party to me unless there's a toddler busting out some dance moves on the dance floor.
