If the faint line on the pregnancy test is the color of the other line then it is a positive result. A faint line indicates that a small amount of the pregnancy hormone hCG was detected. You should only have the hCG hormone in your urine if you are pregnant.
If the faint line on the test is gray or looks like an indent it is not a positive result. The test has a chemical printed on the strip and sometimes this can be seen. It is called an indent line and it is usually gray in color.
The faint line must appear during the amount of time specified in the directions. If the faint line appears after the specified time it is not considered a positive result.
