did pumping help you

If you don't have to do it regularly, and you only pump to soften the breast, it can be helpful. You don't want to drain the breast while pumping, though, because it can lead to oversupply issues. If you drain the breast, you're telling your body to make more milk, and if you don't need to make that much milk, then you could be setting yourself up for more engorgement.
I had to pump right away because I was so engorged that my daughter couldn't get a good latch until I pumped enough to get my nipple ready for her. It works great and save the extra milk in a bpa free nursing pump bags for up to 3 months in freezer.
